What to expect in your first session
In the initial session, the therapist focuses on establishing a strong foundation for future sessions. The therapist begins by introducing themselves and explaining their approach to therapy. They then take time to get to know the client, discussing the concerns that brought them to therapy and gathering personal history, including any previous experiences with therapy. A brief assessment is conducted to understand the symptoms. Towards the end of the session, the therapist and client collaboratively set goals, address any immediate concerns, and outline the next steps.
