What to expect in your first session
The first therapy session revolves around getting to know the client. This is done in two ways. One, providing a safe, comfortable space to open up and share. Second, dedicating time for the client to inquire about the therapeutic process, and the therapist's approach, and voice their expectations. This offers insights into the individual needs and compatibility. Toward the end of the first session, the therapist ensures to understand the client's perspective and how they experienced the session. For therapy to be useful, trust-building is important. This trust-building happens over several sessions. The first session is an introduction, which is the beginning of forming a trusting relationship together.
